For Tokyo → Nagoya, check the Tokyo terminal and which side of Nagoya Station you use

Tokyo departures can use Tokyo Station, Shinjuku and other hubs. Around Nagoya Station, JR’s Shinkansen-side highway-bus area and Meitetsu Bus Center are different places, so the exact stop matters.

Tokyo: representative departure hubs

Tokyo Sta.

Tokyo Station JR Highway Bus Terminal

JR highway buses depart from Yaesu South Exit. Tokyo Station is large and underground/metro transfers can take time, so allow extra time on your first visit.

Shinjuku

Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal

Highway-bus boarding is on 4F. The terminal has waiting, information, lockers and free Wi‑Fi, useful before a late departure.

Yaesu

Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu

A separate Tokyo Station-area terminal used by some services. It has waiting areas, women’s restrooms, lockers and convenience stores; it is not the JR Yaesu South Exit bus terminal.

Nagoya: “Nagoya Station” can mean different bus locations

JR

Nagoya Station Shinkansen Exit / JR highway buses

JR Tokai Bus uses the Shinkansen-side hub. Its ticket office is about one minute from the Shinkansen North Gate and provides waiting, Wi‑Fi, lockers and departure monitors.

Meitetsu

Meitetsu Bus Center

Inside Meitetsu Bus Terminal Building on the 3F/4F near Nagoya Station, with a convenience store, restrooms, lockers and departure information.

Sakae

Some services also stop at Sakae (Oasis 21)

Meitetsu’s Nagoya–Shinjuku service also serves Sakae. If your hotel is around Sakae, comparing stops can reduce an extra rail/subway transfer.

Choose differently for daytime and overnight travel

Day

Day buses: prioritize arrival time and schedule fit

JR Tokai Bus operates daytime services on the Tokyo–Nagoya corridor; the July 2026 timetable change increased direct Shin-Tomei services. Recheck the current timetable when booking.

Night

Overnight buses: prioritize seat and facilities

Night services such as Dream Nagoya vary by vehicle and seat/facility setup. Compare sleep comfort, toilet/charging needs and what you will do after arrival.

Women

Some booking searches support a ladies-seat filter

WILLER’s Tokyo → Nagoya search provides a “Ladies seat policy” condition. Eligible services vary by date, so recheck for your actual departure.

“Nagoya Station” is not a single bus stop. Recheck whether your service uses the JR Shinkansen-side stop, Meitetsu Bus Center or another Nagoya-area stop.

Open Rakuten Travel to check the current fare and seat availability for your actual travel date, then compare the exact stops and facilities you need.

Exact boarding point

Tokyo services may use Tokyo Station-area terminals, Shinjuku or other stops. In Nagoya, verify the exact stop rather than assuming every bus uses the same place.

Luggage

Confirm trunk availability and baggage size/quantity rules for your specific bus, especially with a large suitcase.

Booking & cancellation

Review payment and cancellation conditions and leave a buffer before any fixed onward train or appointment.

Nagoya arrival

If your service uses Meitetsu Bus Center, it is inside a building on the 3rd/4th floors near Nagoya Station and has toilets, lockers and a convenience store.

For international visitors

This route has useful English booking support, but the exact terminal still matters: Shinjuku, Tokyo Station-area stops and different Nagoya-side stops are not interchangeable.

English booking is available for the Shinjuku–Nagoya line

Highwaybus.com provides an English reservation flow for the Shinjuku–Nagoya service, including seat availability and booking conditions. Check that the exact stop and service match the trip you intend to take.

Confirm the exact Tokyo departure point

Depending on the service, Tokyo departures may use Busta Shinjuku, a Tokyo Station-area terminal or another stop. Keep the Japanese stop name and map from your booking.

Nagoya Station has several bus areas

Meitetsu Bus Center, the Nagoya Station west/Shinkansen side and other boarding points are different places around a very large station complex. Check the operator and exact stop before arrival.

Check the date on a night service

If you choose an overnight bus, some booking systems may list after-midnight times as 24:xx or later on the previous date.

Traveling with babies & children

Check the child-seat rule, Tokyo baby facilities, the Nagoya waiting environment and stroller handling before booking.

Child fare & seat

Rules vary by operator. WILLER’s English FAQ explains its child/infant seat policy; other operators may use different rules, so check the policy of the company operating your service.

Tokyo baby facilities

Busta Shinjuku and Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu both provide nursing rooms; Shinjuku also has baby-changing facilities.

Nagoya waiting environment

Meitetsu Bus Center has restrooms, a convenience store, lockers and vending machines. With children, it helps to plan drinks, snacks and restroom time before boarding.

Stroller

Stroller handling is operator-specific. A folded stroller may be placed in an underfloor luggage compartment on some services, but capacity and vehicle rules vary.

Journey comfort

With a young child, compare total travel time, restroom availability and rest stops—not only the cheapest fare.

For women travelers

Check both the Tokyo waiting environment and exactly which Nagoya terminal you will use.

Women-oriented seat options

WILLER’s Tokyo → Nagoya search includes a “Ladies seat policy” condition. Eligible services vary by date, so check the booking screen for your travel date.

Waiting in Tokyo

Major Tokyo Station-area/Shinjuku terminals provide women’s restrooms, waiting and lockers. Curbside stops may offer much less.

JR side in Nagoya

The JR highway-bus ticket office has a waiting room, Wi‑Fi and lockers close to the Shinkansen North Gate.

Meitetsu Bus Center

This indoor terminal on 3F/4F has restrooms, lockers and a convenience store. Check opening hours for late/early travel.

Overnight onboard facilities

Meitetsu’s Shinjuku service advertises outlets at every seat and a powder room, while noting that another vehicle may be substituted.
